The Lac du Salagou region is well worth spending a few days.
 
So to fully appreciate both the diversity of its scenery and its rich historical heritage,

we recommend various excursions and circuits departing from the house:

Circuit 1- Salagou lake and around Mont Liausson:

Click to zoom the image  A 3 km de La Genestière vous traverserez le joli village de Liausson qui domine le Lac du Salagou, puis vous longerez la rive sud du lac ( une petite halte s'impose sur la presqu'île de Rouen pour faire connaissance avec la ruff du Salagou), vous traverserez Salasc,  village languedocien typique avant de découvrir le cirque de Mourèze, cirque dolomitique surprenant qui mérite une halte "trekking", puis vous pourrez visiter la manufacture royale de Villeneuvette, et le château de Clermont l'Hérault.

Circuit 2- Between vineyards and garrigues.

Vous rejoindrez Saint Jean de Fos  (le village des potiers,) par une petite route qui serpente au milieu des vignobles Coteaux du Languedoc.
A l'entrée des Gorges de l'Hérault vous admirerez le Pont du Diable (un des plus anciens ponts romans de France) et ferez halte à la superbe Grotte de Clamouse
puis vous flânerez dans le village de Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert(classé parmi les plus beaux villages de France) et ne manquerez pas de visiter son Abbaye de Gellone, inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l' UNESCO au titre des Chemins de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.

Circuit 3: “On the way to Pézenas.”

    Le “Pic de Vissou”( the Vissou mountain peak),
the prehistorical mines of Cabrières,
the Saint Adrien gardens,
and Pézenas: the ancient capital of Languedoc,
“ a little town from the “grand Siècle”. (at the time of King Louis XIV)

Le cirque de Navacelle, La Couvertoirade ( Templar bastions from the 13th century), the Millau Viaduc,
The historical town centers of Montpellier and Béziers, the Canal du Midi and the Fontserranne locks...
The Foncaude Abbey and the Valmagne Abbey, the Prieuré de Grandmonnt ( Priory)...
Mediterranean beaches, the Ètang de Thau and its fishermen's villages,
The Roman ruins of Loupian and the Voie Domitienne ( a late 1st century roman highway built under Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus).

Wind-surfing, Kite-surfing, sailing on sail boats or catamarans, and even pedal crafting!
“Parapente” ( paragliding),”U.L.M.“(microlight), and also kites!
